A CLEAR CHOICE for Combination Treatment

Retinoids are standard of care for any severity of acne4,5 and AKLIEF (triferotene) Cream, 0.005% demonstrated safety and efficacy when used in combination with oral antibiotic doxycycline for patients with severe acne.1,2

Targeting severe facial acne with AKLIEF Cream + oral Doxycycline

The Phase 4 DUAL study evaluated the efficacy and safety of once-daily AKLIEF Cream combined with oral doxycycline in patients greater than or equal to 12 years of age with severe facial acne.¹ DUAL was randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled with patients receiving AKLIEF Cream plus enteric-coated doxycycline 120 mg or vehicle cream plus oral placebo for 12 weeks.¹ The primary endpoint was the absolute change from baseline to Week 12 in facial inflammatory and non-inflammatory lesion counts.¹

95% reduction in inflammatory lesions with AKLIEF Cream and oral Doxycycline

In the Phase 4 DUAL study, patients with severe facial acne treated with AKLIEF Cream in combination with oral doxycycline achieved significantly higher Investigator’s Global Assessment (IGA) success rates compared with vehicle plus placebo.1,2 By Week 12, 32.5% of patients receiving AKLIEF Cream plus doxycycline achieved IGA success versus 15.4% with vehicle plus placebo (P=0.0107),1,2 demonstrating the efficacy of combination therapy in severe facial acne.¹

AKLIEF Cream was well tolerated

In the DUAL study, AKLIEF Cream demonstrated a tolerability profile consistent with topical retinoid therapy.¹ The most frequently reported adverse events (greater than or equal to 1%) were application-site irritation, application-site pruritus (itching), and sunburn.³ These events were generally manageable and can be addressed through appropriate patient counseling and skincare recommendations.³
